Soviet Flag Over the Reichstag by MrQuebec Soviet Flag Over the Reichstag by MrQuebec
This picture inspired me by it historical meaning of glory and victory.

The main modif are : darker and more redish overall along with the flag that sticks out.

I think that the red could represent all the blood dropped by all those valorent soldiers who fought in this battle...

Anyway enjoy en feel free to comment.

p.s.: original photographer was Yevgeny Khaldei

This is a particularly beautiful picture for me, as it shows the USSR in its true glory, as we fought along side them against the greatest entity of evil the world has ever known to exist.

What a great role they played it was.

Don't bug me because:
I know the USSR was allied with Germany at the beginning of WWII and helped to invade Poland, I'm talking about later in the war ( preferably post Stalingrad :D )

Well, when the USSR was allied with Germany, there was no threat or incentive against the Germans, and Russia NEVER has gone or will go to a war offensively... its army solely exists for defense, like it's supposed to. When the Nazi's invaded the USSR, it was a matter of defense for its people.

However, the Nazi's weren't ENTIRELY bad (just about 99.9% bad).
If you've ever seen or read of the hellish conditions the German people were living in, you'd know why WWII was necessary. The Armistice of WWI caused the worst living conditions possible for the German people, and the only way to get any money, food, shelter or anything back (because they had absolutely NOTHING), was to start another World War.

But yes, their actions during the war were unacceptable, no matter the argument given in its defense.

Oh yes, I do know that the war was all but vital to their survival (as WWI had caused an economic depression and just as they were leaving that one with some hope of revival America's economy crashed the entire world's, throwing them back down into the hole they'd just climbed out of). I also argue on behalf of the soldiers in the Wehrmacht and other military branches who did NOT murder innocent people. "There are good souls in hordes of demons" I believe I heard someone say.

My true anger is directed not to the desperate people just looking for a way out, but to the corrupt, arrogant, self-promoting bastards who took advantage of them for their own glory.

If the victors had had more sense at the end of the Great War, they wouldn't have incriminated the losers and put them so far down. Everyone is in some way responsible for what happened between 1939 and 1945.

PS: I think Stalin, sensing war was inevitable, made an alliance with Germany out of desperation, as England, France, and Poland refused his offers of military alliance. (Possibly out of fear) However, Russia has been the agressor, although as an accessory in Poland, the USSR did attack Afganistan... But I wouldn't pay too much attention to Russia's role in that conflict, the U.S. exacerbated the situation by helping them and then abandoning them, leaving conditions perfect for radical terrorism.

Please elaborate on your misunderstanding of the Second World War...

But yes, under Stalin, it was pretty fascist. However ONLY under Stalin (that asshole).

You know, you're right in saying that the red symbolizes the blood of the soldiers that fought in battle. That's half of the actual symbolism of the red flag. The other half is for the blood of the proletariat shed in the Revolution.

Very impressive. It's not very known by the average person that most of the fighting in World War 2 was done by the Soviets (and an impressive participation of the British RAF). Th USSR received all the fury of the German Army, the biggest battles occurred in the East front. Americans arrived in 1944 (when Germany was clearly defeated) and they take all the credit with their freaking "Band of Brothers" and "Private Ryan". BUt at least one film does make justice to the Soviet people: "Enemy at the gates".

Definitely a fave! :D
